How can I learn AI in India?


UG and Integrated Masters Program in Statistics and Data Science, IIT Kanpur
announced in May this year that its board has approved a four-year Bachelor of Science program and a five-year Integrated Masters of Science program in Statistics and Data Science. The course will be offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics from the current academic year, 2021-22.


The programs will focus on computational and data science application courses and fundamentals of statistics and mathematics. It will allow students to choose elective courses from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering and aims to help students master Big Data Analytics.


Admission to the program will be through Joint Entrance JEE (Advanced).

MTech in AI and Data Science, IIT Roorkee

This month, IIT Roorkee launched two new MTech programs under its recently established Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (CAIDS). The programme, MTech in AI and MTech in Data Science, aims to advance AI and data science applications and studies in the country, train and development of human resources, promotion of applied research, entrepreneurship and innovation.


Candidates having BE, B.Tech, Integrated MSc or equivalent degrees in any engineering science discipline are eligible to apply for the course. They must have a CGPA of 6.0 to appear for the entrance test and online interview.


Fellowship in AI for Social Good, IIT Madras

In April this year, IIT Madras's Robert Bosch Center for Data Science and AI and the Narayanan Family Foundation collaborated to launch a fellowship program to attract researchers working on AI for social good. The fellowship has been designed by Professor B Raveendran and aims to enable learners to establish independent research profiles and contribute to socially relevant AI research.


Recent PhD graduates, and early career researchers in computer science, biomedical science, computational and data science, finance, the management or other engineering branches can apply for this fellowship program. The Fellows will be paid Rs 15-18 lakh for research based on their experience.


12-Week AI Course, IIT Madras

IIT Madras has launched a 12-week AI course on the National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) platform called 'Artificial Intelligence Search Methods for Problem Solving'. Professor Deepak Khemnu from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering will give the session. IIT Madras.


The course starts on 26th July. Candidates can enrol till August 2. While the course is free to audit, you will have to pay Rs 1,000 to take the exam, which is scheduled for October 23.


B.Tech in AI, NIT Surathkal

The Department of Information Technology at NIT Karnataka, Surathkal recently announced that the Academic Senate, the Board of the Institute and the Union Ministry of Education have approved a new four-year B.Tech course in AI. Admission will be on the basis of JEE (Main) exam.


The curriculum will provide expertise in data science, human-centred computing, cyber-physical systems and robotics, making students industry-ready.


Certificate Program in ML and AI with Python, IIT Bombay

The Certificate Program in ML and AI with Python by IIT Bombay aims to prepare students for the industry. The course will teach you how to sort (Python, NumPy and Pandas), study and rearrange data, run analysis, and create DataFrames from scratch. Students will learn Scikit and SciPy to build predictive linear models for maximum accuracy; Build a text classification system and build an agent-based model using linear classifiers and deep learning.


The six-month course is scheduled to start from June 30. The online classes will be conducted every Sunday between 3.30 pm to 6:30 pm for three hours and will involve Rs 1,25,000 plus taxes. Any graduate or diploma holder having experience of at least one year can apply for the course. On completion of the course, learners will receive a certificate from IIT Bombay.


AI for Digital Transformation, IIM Bangalore

IIM Bangalore has launched a live online program on AI for Digital Transformation to equip learners with AI technologies that enable digital transformation in organizations. By taking courses, students will understand how data is stored, how software is built and tested, how machines are tasked with making decisions, the types of biases, and how to scale operations.


Upon completion of the course, learners will have a strong understanding of concepts including AI, machine learning, neural networks, supervised learning, classification and prediction. The five-day course is commencing on September 13. The fee is Rs 76,950 for early birds and Rs 85,500 for candidates who enrol after August 23.
